Series: Independent Studies
Authors: Frontier College
Collection: Learning Materials
Every year, Independent Studies at Frontier College publishes a book of student writing. We've been doing this for 20 years. This year, we decided to publish the results of one of our class projects.
We asked the students in our program, as part of a class assignment, to create collages with images and words that
represent how Frontier College has impacted them. Students created colour collages which are digitally reproduced as black and white illustrations in this book. Students then used their collages to write short stories about the meaning of Frontier College and the learning they have done while here. Staff, tutors and volunteers assisted the students with their work. The stories are presented
along with each student's collage.

This useful guide to writing is divided into two sections : Writing and Free Writing. The first part of the guide contains examples, notions, and activities on penmanship, sentences, lists, paragraphs, invitations, etc. The second part of the book is about free-writing. To encourage the free-writing process, several aids are used to stimulate the learner. Daily journals, cartoon strips, newspapers, and poetry are only a few of the activities used to develop the learner's free-writing skills.
