The Writing's On The Wall

Investing In Municipal Workforce Literacy

Series: The Writing's On The Wall

Authors: Patricia Nutter

Collection: Research Materials

This manual is the result of a project undertaken by the Canadian Association of Municipal Administrators (CAMA), with the objective of creating awareness for the personal and corporate benefits of literacy programs in the municipal workplace. The document is a clear and concise introduction to workplace literacy programs, including suggestions on getting others involved, how to get started, as well as models for workforce literacy taken from six Canadian cities. It is intended for municipal policy-makers, but can be a useful reference for literacy practitioners, especially those involved in workplace literacy. The manual also presents a selected bibliography of adult literacy resources, and a listing of provincial literacy coalitions, federations of labour and provincial literacy coordinators.
