The Calgary Learning Centre is a not-for-profit agency that offers programs and services in the areas of literacy and learning disabilities. The Calgary Youth Justice Society is an organization that supports youth at risk and helps young people in conflict with the law get back on track.

In 2004, the two organizations joined forces for a project that aimed to develop a strategy to meet the needs of youth in conflict with the law who also have low literacy skills. This final report includes a literature review; research from focus groups and surveys; a list of relevant resources; and recommendations for further action.

The authors have also included four case studies that illustrate the diversity of needs of youth in conflict with the law.
