This report provides a summary of the major themes that arose during a two-day conference on financial literacy, sponsored by the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC) and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). The conference was held in Toronto in May 2011.
The document is divided into five sections dealing with the importance of national strategies; the emergence of evidence about financial knowledge, attitudes and behaviour; effective delivery and technology; the limits of financial education; and the way forward for Canada.
Within the broad framework, the authors also focus on specific issues, like financial education in schools and the need to target youth.
