Document Use Refresher for Apprentices: Overview (2006)

Document Use Refresher for Apprentices: Overview

Series: Document Use Refresher for Apprentices

Authors: NS Partners for Workplace Education, NSCC

Collection: Learning Materials

This document offers an overview of a Nova Scotia initiative that incorporates an informal assessment with the apprenticeship registration process. The assessment determines whether an apprentice needs support in acquiring the skills needed to succeed in training. If so, a learning plan is developed, using trades-specific material.

The authors explain the program in detail, including the evaluation process and instructional strategies for teaching adults. They also discuss what is meant by the term document use and why it is important.

The program is a joint initiative of the Nova Scotia Department of Education, the Nova Scotia Community College, and Human Resources and Skills Development Canada.
