International Literacy Day Tool Kit for Schools and Families: “Literacy - Food for Life”

September 8, 2012

Authors: Saskatoon Literacy Coalition

Collection: Learning Materials

This pamphlet contains information about activities organized by the Saskatoon Literacy Coalition to celebrate International Literacy Day on September 8, 2012. The coalition also organized a reading event for September 7.

In addition, the document contains ideas to help schools and families encourage a love of reading. Suggestions include inviting an author to visit a school; organizing a book swap; and hosting a contest to write a song or poem about literacy.

Parents and caregivers are encouraged to make literacy fun by making up rhymes; choosing a variety of books; or making a snack that relates to a book or story the family has read.
