Community Literacy Planning Guide: Working Together for Literacy

Series: Community Literacy Planning Guide

Authors: Decoda Literacy Solutions

Collection: Learning Materials

This guidebook explains how the community literacy plan, a reporting requirement for ongoing literacy funding in British Columbia, can be completed. The community literacy plan is the yearly work plan and documentation of goals and actions for the province’s community literacy groups.

The authors discuss roles and responsibilities; how resources are allocated; and why collaboration offers the best chance for sustaining this work and demonstrating its value to others. They also provide information about the community literacy planning process, including lessons learned since community literacy planning began in 2004.

This guide is a companion document to the Community Literacy Planning Guide of Decoda Literacy Solutions, revised in 2008, and the District Literacy Planning Guide of the British Columbia Ministry of Education.

Decoda Literacy Solutions is the provincial literacy organization for British Columbia. It brings together the expertise of Literacy BC and the literacy department of 2010 Legacies Now, a non-profit organization created in 2000 to build support for Vancouver’s bid for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
