National Adult Literacy Database

This document grew out of a project that looked at the Essential Skills of reading text, document use, and writing in relation to three Laubach Literacy series: Laubach Way to Reading; Challenger; and Voyager. The goal was to assess the material in the three series through the framework of Essential Skills complexity levels, in the same way the material had already been linked to the five Literacy and Basic Skills (LBS) levels.

The author has prepared “Link” charts that show the relationship between Essential Skills and the Laubach materials. For comparison purposes, the charts also show the original designations according to the five LBS levels.
