Snakes and ladders for learning: learning disabilities edition (2011)

Snakes and ladders for learning: learning disabilities edition

Series: Learning Disabilities and Whole Life Learning Project

Authors: Dee McRae

Collection: Learning Materials

Designed for literacy practitioners, tutors and instructors, this game uses a new take on a traditional board game to foster awareness of the impact of learning disabilities. In this version, the ladders and snakes represent the ups and downs of learning and learning disabilities.

The document includes complete instructions for setting up and playing the game; detailed instructions for preparing game components; and templates for making the playing cards.

The game is intended to be played on a room-sized board, which can be made out of old bed sheets. However, the author has also included instructions for a tabletop version if space is limited.

The document is illustrated with photographs of people building the components for the game.
