Team Approach [Video – 5:57] (2008)

Team Approach [Video – 5:57]

Authors: Emerit Tourism Training

Collection: Learning Materials

This video is part of the Emerit professional training program developed by the Canadian Tourism Human Resource Council (CTHRC).

The narrators explain that success in tourism relies on everyone accepting the team approach, which means putting the good of the team ahead of one’s personal feelings. Team work requires respect, negotiating skills, and good communication.

The video includes a scenario of two employees at a hotel reservation desk who fall into conflict when one worker’s constructive criticism is rejected by the other. Another employee steps in to help settle the disagreement through communications.

The narrators point out that while taking a team approach can be hard work at times, the payoff is membership in a special group that offers mutual support.

The CTHRC is a national organization that addresses labour market issues and promotes professionalism in the tourism sector.
