Retail Curriculum: Learner (2004)

Retail Curriculum: Learner

Series: Essential Skills Training - LLEO

Authors: Christine Chapman, Jeraldine DuCue, Ann Carr

Collection: Learning Materials

This document, part of a series developed for use in adult upgrading programs, uses Essential Skills as the basis for a curriculum designed to help people prepare for jobs in the retail sector. There is a corresponding guide for practitioners.

The authors have presented the material in seven modules, beginning with an introduction to the world of retail sales. Other modules deal with customer service; equipment and supplies used in retail; store procedures; retail math; health and safety; and tips for finding a job.

Each module includes a variety of learning activities, based on situations encountered in retail settings. For instance, several activities focus on skills needed to deal with difficult customers or to work effectively as part of a team.
