Preparing for Technical Training: Essential Skills for Water/Wastewater Operators, Levels 1 & 2 – Teacher’s Guide

Series: Preparing for Technical Training: Essential Skills for Water/Wastewater Operators

Authors: Workplace Education Manitoba (WEM)

Collection: Learning Materials

This is the teacher’s guide for a 40-hour course developed to train people to work in water and wastewater treatment facilities.

The material has been divided into eight modules: a basic math refresher; fractions, decimals and percents; measurement conversions; linear, area and volume calculations; solving equations; chemical measurements; hydraulics; and wastewater and electricity. Each module includes a variety of practice exercises, with answers provided.

The authors have also included several formula sheets for quick reference. Some of the formula sheets offer general mathematical information, like the formulas for determining area and volume, while others are oriented specifically to the water/wastewater sector and contain information about such topics as flow rates, sludge density index, and solids retention time.
