National Adult Literacy Database

This collection of stories is the culmination of a project undertaken in 2004 by The Word On The Street in partnership with the Metro Toronto Movement for Literacy and the National Literacy Secretariat. It follows up on the 2002 project pilot "Land That I Dream Of." The stories in this book have been written by adults in literacy programs in Toronto. Their efforts reflect their courage and determination to acquire basic skills that they can apply at home, at work, and in the community. They are able to share their stories as a result of the efforts of many organizations that have worked together to obtain funding, offer writing workshops, provide instruction for literacy learners, and publish this volume.
