Post-secondary Education in Canada: Strategies for Success

Series: Report on Learning in Canada

Authors: Canadian Council on Learning (CCL)

ISBN: 978-0-9783880-7-2

This is the second annual report from the Canadian Council on Learning (CCL) on the post-secondary education sector in Canada. While some modest gains have been made since the first report, the authors say that for the most part, Canada continues to lag behind other jurisdictions.

In particular, they point to gaps in data on post-secondary education in Canada. For example, Canada does not have the information required to assess capacity versus labour-market needs; lacks a complete picture of the country’s private-sector education providers; and has little recent information about faculty, enrolment, or capacity at Canada’s community colleges.

They propose a comprehensive, pan-Canadian data strategy as the first step towards providing the information needed to strengthen the country’s post-secondary education sector.
